Amy Tan (Chinese: 譚恩美; pinyin: Tán Ēnměi) (innate February 19, 1952) is a Chinese American writer. Citing her mother when "her inspiration...," Tan utilizes traditional Chinese customs clashing with American customs as a independent foundation for her works.

Tan is better known for the critically acclaimed The Joy Luck Club, the book manufactured into the feature where Tan was a director. She as well wrote many more books, including ''The Kitchen God's Wife, The Hundred Secret Senses and The Bonesetter's Daughter, and a collection of non-fiction essays, entitled The Opposite of Fate: A Book of Musings.
